Acknowledgment of Country
We, in the spirit of Reconciliation, acknowledge the Wurundjeri People of the Kulin Nation as the traditional custodians of the land now known as Ringwood, where Indigenous Australians have performed age-old ceremonies.
We acknowledge and respect their unique ability to care for Country and their deep spiritual connection to it. We pay our respects to their Elders, past, present and emerging.
We acknowledge the 1000s of years of history that Indigenous people have with finger-limes, and the traditional uses of the plant.
Wurundjeri Peoples sovereignty was never ceded, this was and always will be aboriginal land.
Indigenous Medicinal Uses
Traditionally, this product has been used by indigenous Australians for many medicinal purposes. This includes using the juice off the limes to help with stomach issue such as indigestion, as the finger-limes have naturally acidic properties.
The skin of the limes is rich in antimicrobial properties, and can be applied to surface wounds such as burns and skin irritation. It prevents any infection, and promotes healing.
Many indigenous Australians consider finger-limes to be an essential part of their cultural identities and their traditional diets.
